What an excellent post. I think it's easy for people to be harsh on the internet because of the anonymity as well as the denationalization of it. We're just names, usually not real, attached to a bit of text. It's easy to be rude to that sort of entity. They aren't real, and like a poor customer service provider, are merely the avatar of an idea/product/company.

I have to be honest. I have a profound dislike of American tourists that insist on narrating to other people they don’t know the awesomeness of what they are looking at, despite the fact that people are also looking at the same thing, just experiencing it in a more intimate way. Also, how the word awesome is a meaningless term nowadays. Sunset in Dubrovnik “awesome,” Montmartre stairs “awesome,” pizza in a random restaurant “awesome.” But I am also obnoxious in my own ways, just very snotty about them.

I enjoyed this post a lot.
